How will the shower arrive? Does the unit come pre assembled?
Your steam shower will arrive in 1 3 wooden slatted crates. Typically, you will receive 2 crates the smaller of which holds the shower tray and shower cover; while the larger crates will hold the remaining fibreglass reinforced acrylic panels, safety glass and accessories.

Unlike some stories we have been told, our steam showers come largely pre assembled with the massage jets, electric wiring and water pipes already connected. The unit is supplied with its constituent panels flat packed for easy manoeuvring through doorways. These adjoining panels will be bolted together and sealed with silicone to provide a relatively straight forward installation. Simply connect any pipes/wires that join the plumbing/electrics between adjacent panels, hook up your hot and cold water feeds, electric supply and waste drainage and you are ready to go.

Does the steam shower heat the water?
No. Each Di Vapor steam shower requires both a hot and cold water feed at the appropriate pressure to the rear of the shower cabin. The shower cabins do not have a built in water heating facility. The shower will function with just a cold water feed and create hot steam for a normal steam session but you would only be able to have a cold shower!

What water pressure is required for Di Vapor steam showers?
While the steam unit may function on a lower water pressure we recommend a combined hot and cold water pressure of 2.5 3.0 bar. Please advise your plumber that the steam unit will require a water supply of approximately 18 litres per minute. This would be split between the hot and cold water giving 9 litres per minute for the hot and 9 litres per minute for the cold. Please check whether your combi boiler meets these advised figures.

Can I use a water pump to increase the pressure to an acceptable level?
Yes, if your water pressure is too low then a water pump may provide a suitable solution. Di Vapor recommends the Salamander ESP100 3.0bar or equivalent. Please consult your plumber for more information.

Will my combi/combination boiler work with these steam showers?
Yes. Combi boilers will work fine with Di Vapor steam showers. However, please check the boiler’s hot water supply pressure meets the Di Vapor product recommendations. Please note that you may require a Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) to be fitted to your cold water supply so the hot and cold water pressures match.

Will the steam unit work with a gravity fed water system?
Typically, no. A gravity fed system can be identified where you have a lagged hot water cylinder (often located in an airing cupboard) and cold water storage tank (often in the loft). The gravity of the cold water provides the water pressure and this varies depending on the height of the cold water tank. One bar of pressure is the force required to raise water to a height of 10 metres, so if the water storage tank is 10 metres above the shower then this would produce 1 bar of pressure. In most cases gravity fed water systems would require the installation of a water pump to provide an adequate pressure. Please ask your plumber for more details.

Does the unit come with everything I need?
The steam shower comes with everything required for successful assembly. The plumber should provide piping up to the unit and the fixed waste piping away from the shower. Certain models have CD/MP3 input. To connect your CD/MP3 player to the control box you will need a standard twin phono to 3.5mm stereo jack lead that runs from the rear of the unit back to your music device. These can be bought at most high street electrical suppliers such as Maplins. If your steam shower comes with a telephone connection and you want to connect the steam shower to your home’s telephone line then you will need to run a phone line back to the unit and this will require an RG11 to BT adaptor.

I have a restricted ceiling height. Do you provide shorter steam showers?
Yes. The height of models such as the Verona and Victoria can be changed. Please note, the height can only be changed on certain models and would incur a longer delivery time. Please contact Di Vapor to determine which models can be supplied at a bespoke height.

Do I need help unloading the boxes?
Yes. These products are substantial and the weight of the boxes highlights the quality and thickness of material used. The larger of the two crates would typically require 2 4 people (in some cases more) to carry, depending on the unit. The delivery is provided by a third party courier company and it is up to the discretion of the delivery driver themselves whether they help with unloading. Please do not rely on the delivery driver’s help. Please refer to the pre installation sheets for the appropriate unit to make sure you have suitable manpower on site to unload the crates. How long will delivery take?
If the steam shower is in stock in our warehouse then Di Vapor typically provides a 2 5 business day delivery time. Please note that units will not be dispatched until payment has been successfully processed. A longer delivery time will be incurred where a unit is not in stock. Please note, where glass colour options exist, one option may be in stock while the other may be out of stock. Stock levels continually change and we endeavour to keep the website fully up to date at all times. The dimensions of the product are larger than my doorway, will it fit through?
The product will come in 1 3 large crates and the items inside these crates are flat packed where possible. For example, the Niagara (steam shower with whirlpool bath) will have the whirlpool bath and shower cover in one box. The other box will hold the glass doors, glass side panels and back panel. These individual panels can be removed from the box and should fit through most doorways. In the Niagara example given, the bathtub is the largest part, but we have not found this to be a problem with our customers. However, please make necessary checks to confirm the products accessibility to your chosen location.

Installation Questions

How difficult are the units to assemble and install?
The units are relatively straight forward to install and can be likened to a washing machine in many respects. Your plumber should run hot and cold water feeds to the rear of the unit with connections for the unit’s standard braided hoses. It is important to make sure that no debris remains in the pipes before connecting the pipes to the unit as the debris could clog the thermostatic valve and cause problems. Please make sure your plumber runs water through the new pipes into a bucket before connecting the pipes to the shower.

The steam shower comes with a pre connected flexible waste hose that requires installation into your home’s waste piping. The steam shower requires a 16 Amp power supply and should be connected through the existing RCD or the RCD at the consumer box,. The unit comes flat packed and the constituent acrylic panels, aluminium columns and glass are connected using screws and bolts that are provided. To complete installation it is important to make sure the unit is carefully sealed with standard bathroom silicone to avoid any water leakage.

Do the products come with installation instructions and a user guide?
Yes. Each steam shower is supplied with both installation instructions and a user guide. These guides should answer all your questions but if you have any additional questions then our customer service team are always on hand to help.

What is the electrical requirements of the steam unit?
The steam showers electrical control box has a rated working voltage of 220Volts, 50Hz. The power of the steam generator is 3KW+ 10%. The power of the water pump is 0.745KW (1HP). The voltage of the controlling circuits is DC12V and the control box has a waterproof grade of IPX4. Any electrical connections within the bathroom should use a waterproof I.P. 56 socket and be situated 1 metre from the floor.

What plumbing connections do I need?
The unit comes with all the water pipes necessary to connect the unit’s own massage jets and showering functions. In addition, the unit has two 1 metre braided hoses to connect to your home’s hot and cold water supplies. Connected to the shower drain is a 32mm flexi hose drainage pipe that is approximately 75cm in length. Your plumber should supply all piping up to the unit and the fixed drainage pipes away from the unit.

Do you provide an installation service?
Typically, customers will use their existing qualified plumber to install the new steam shower. However, if you are unable to find a suitable installer please phone the Di Vapor main office and we will look through our database of plumbers who have successfully installed a Di Vapor steam shower in the past. Alternatively, Di Vapor can provide names of qualified plumbers in your area who may be able to meet your needs.

Your units come with a ventilation fan. Do I need an extractor fan in my bathroom?
During a steam session a large quantity of steam is produced and is largely trapped within the steam cabin. Once the door is opened the steam will quickly expel into the room. It is important to have good ventilation to allow this steam to escape from the bathroom otherwise the steam will condense in your bathroom and could lead to mould or other related problems in the future. The build up and condensation of the steam can also be likened to that of a long hot shower.

If the room has a window then opening this window will quickly expel most of the steam from the bathroom and provide good ventilation. An extractor fan is not essential although good ventilation is an important consideration.

Post Installation Questions

Can I use aromatherapy oils with the steam shower?
Yes. Di Vapor use a specially engineered steam outlet that has an inlet for aromatherapy oils. Please enquire about Di Vapor’s specially blended aromatherapy oils.

What is the temperature range of the steam shower?
The temperature range obtainable with the thermostatic control valve is 0C 54C. To obtain the higher temperature ranges there must be a sufficiently high hot water supply from your boiler. The suggested water temperature is 38C.

The temperature range of the steam is 30 60 degrees Celsius. The suggested steam temperature is 42C, although this depends on customer preference and any medical advice. Please note, if the room temperature is higher than the selected steam temperature the steam function may automatically shut off.

Does the ozone generator require refilling?
No. The ozone generator creates ozone (O3) from oxygen (O2).

How does my CD/MP3 player connect to the unit?
Simply run a standard left and right twin phono (male connections) to 3.5mm stereo jack (male jack) lead from the rear of the steam shower (below the control box) to your audio device. From the control panel you can then select the CD input source.

How do I clean the steam shower?
The shower units are finished with fibreglass reinforced acrylic. Acrylic can scratch so make sure you use a non abrasive, mild bathroom cleaner. Simply apply the cleaner and wait for a few minutes, then you can use a soft bristled brush or cloth and gently clean the panels paying special attention to any crevices where dirt can build up. After finishing rinse off all cleaner with water. Please do not mix your cleaning agents. You are advised to clean the shower in this manner once or twice a month or depending on use. Where the unit comes with an ozone generator, then this can be left on for a period of about 10 minutes after each steam session to kill and reduce the build up of bacteria and mould.

General Shower Enclosure Checks

Size, Shape and Height
There are many shapes of shower enclosure: square, rectangle, oblong and quadrant enclosures. Don't make your bathroom feel like it is cramped, choose a shower enclosure which gives you the feeling of space inside while showering and one which gives your bathroom the sense of space.

Positioning
If your new shower enclosure can be installed where your old shower used to be then this will save a lot of preparatory work, hassle and money as the hot, cold and the waste water pipes will already be in the correct place making them easy to attach to your new shower cubicle.

Shower Enclosures: With or Without Tray?
It may be preferential to choose a shower enclosure that comes with a tray. Due to the fact that the tray has been designed specifically for the given shower enclosure it will fit properly and will have less chance of water leakage.

Tiling
The inside walls of the shower enclosure will need to be tiled. Therefore, plan ahead to what tiles you want and then tile the area before installing the shower cubicle.

Testing
Corrosion Testing Have you ever seen chrome plating that has chipped or peeled off? It spoils the finish of your new showers. This is why it's important to buy quality if you want your shower enclosure to look good. Buy from a company who has done anti corrosion salt tests on all of their metal fittings.

Door Rollers Maybe not one of the things you think about when buying a shower enclosure, but the shower door rollers are very important for the longevity and quality feel of the shower enclosure. The door runners which Di Vapor uses for their shower enclosures have been tested for over 100,000 consecutive uses: that's a lot of showers!

Water Leakage A good seal, often with magnetic strips on the shower doors is important to keep water inside the shower. Good seals also make the shower enclosure more aesthetically pleasing.

Door Handles and fixings Door handles which are solid metal are much higher quality than their chrome plated plastic counterparts. These plastic handles are weaker and can give a cheaper feel to the shower enclosure.

Delivery and VAT A shower enclosure may seem reasonably priced and of good quality, however it may not include delivery. Watch out for hidden extras like V.A.T and delivery. These extras can add a significant amount to the final buying price of your shower enclosure.

Acrylic Tray
Reinforcement Ensure the shower enclosure tray you choose uses pure acrylic. Even if a company says the tray is acrylic it doesn't mean it will be acrylic all the way through. The company may have acrylic PMMA sheets on the outside and ABS on the inside resulting in a poorer quality, less sturdy shower tray.

Check its Colour Some acrylics have very bright white finishes. This is a tell tale sign of a poor quality acrylic. High quality acrylics are flame retardant and don't have a brilliant white colour which often clashes with the other sanitaryware in your bathroom.

Acrylic Price There isn't just one grade of acrylic, there are many varying grades available. Some companies use a very cheap, low quality acrylic to create and sell their products at low cost, therefore sacrificing quality and the longevity of the shower enclosure tray. Some factories use acrylic that costs pound;777 per tonne and others which costs pound;971 pound;1,035 per tonne. However, Di Vapor uses a very high quality grade which costs pound;1618 per tonne. The higher quality acrylic will make your shower enclosure tray last longer and will fade less over time.

Fibreglass and Reinforcement On the bottom of most acrylic shower trays there is fibreglass for strengthening. Be watchful for companies who use too much resin and not enough fibre. This is low quality fibreglass that discolours and weakens over time. All the bases of Di Vapor's shower enclosure trays use 3 4 layers of fibreglass whereas many manufacturers only use 1 2 layers of fibreglass reinforcement.

Tempered Glass
Thickness In general it is best to have tempered safety glass of 5 6mm for your shower enclosure: the thicker the better.

Edge Protection Glass which does not have a protective framing can be easily chipped and broken. A shower enclosure with strong aluminium framing will support the glass in the shower doors and keep it well protected.

Break Test There are standards to which tempered safety glass must reach. A piece of glass 120mm by 120mm should break into a minimum of 45 pieces, less than this is deemed unsafe as the shards of glass are too big and could cause injury. Di Vapor's tempered safety glass breaks into 60 little pieces; the more pieces the better.

Shower Enclosure Aluminium Framing
Are they aluminium? Some companies use a profiling on their shower enclosures that looks like aluminium but is actually plastic. This framing not only looks and feels cheaper, it also doesn't protect the glass on the shower enclosure as effectively as aluminium profiling.

What is the profiles thickness? A shower cubicle may look the part with aluminium profiling, but it may not be the quality which you expect. To cut back on costs some company's use aluminium profiling which is only 0.5mm thick. This is significantly weaker and more prone to denting than the 1.2 1.6mm thick aluminium which Di Vapor uses.

Aluminium Quality Some companies use recycled aluminium or a composite of aluminium and other metals to cut back on costs therefore increasing its susceptibility to damage.

Structural Frame Support Under the acrylic tray there is a frame which gives the shower enclosures strength and support. Ensure that this frame uses a metal such as stainless steel as opposed to a wooden support which is significantly weaker.

The second component is the control box. This is the unit that sends power to the third component, the "salt cell". This unit controls how much chlorine is produced by regulating how long the power is applied to the cell. If you turn the control knob way down, then the unit might apply power to the cell only 25% of the time, thereby producing less chlorine. Rejected for unemployment benefits of up to 450 dollars a week, more and more jobless Californians are awaiting action by a state appeals board, the Los Angeles Times said.

In all, a record number of 68,135 jobless people have filed unemployment appeals and the Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board (UIAB) is supposed to decide within 30 days whether the state wrongly denied an individual's jobless benefits, the paper said.

About nine out of 10 appeals come from the newly unemployed who are denied benefits by the California Employment Development Department, according to the paper.

The number of those appeals has increased steadily since last summer as California's unemployment rate climbed to 9.3 percent in December, when 1.7 million Californians were without jobs, the paper said.

"The workload has been horrendous because of the economic times we are facing," Jehan Flagg, the UIAB's acting executive director, was quoted as saying.

She blamed "mismanagement under the previous head of the organization" for a backlog that is now 81 percent higher than when she took over Aug. 1.

Critics partially blame the board's performance on the failure of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's administration to let the board hire enough people to handle cases in a timely manner even if the federal government pays the bill, the paper said.

The federal government has demanded that the state come up with a plan to fix the mess this month, said the paper.

Earlier this week, Jorge O'Connor, a Bolivian businessman, was murdered while carrying 450,000 U.S. dollars in cash and assailants fled with the money.

Local media quoted prosecutors and police sources as saying the money was going to be handed over by O'Connor to Ramirez's brother in law and that O'Connor worked for Argentine Bolivian energy company Catler Uniservice, which won a contract to build a natural gas plant in Bolivia for YPFB last year.

Ramirez, who has not been charged with any crime, denied any wrongdoing Friday. Catler Uniservice, meanwhile, has yet to make any comments on the case.

Morales, while announcing the new YPFB head, vowed a thorough investigation into the murder case, according to the ABI, Bolivia's official news agency.

If you don't have fitted bathroom vanity units to hide your pipework, your pipes and connections are likely to be on display. A nice finishing touch in your bathroom's makeover is to box in these unsightly areas. Sections of MDF attached to a batten framework are commonly used for boxing in, as they can easily be painted or tiled to achieve a tidy finish. Although it's relatively straightforward to box in your pipes, it's worth keeping the design simple as the whole process can be quite time consuming.

Firstly, decide where on the floor to fix your first batten. Remember to leave enough space for the MDF to cover the pipes, but at the same time you don't want the boxing to protrude any further into the room than necessary. Fix the floor batten in place, then fix a batten on the wall above the pipework, using a spirit level to ensure it's totally level. Measure the dimensions and cut your MDF to size. You may have to scribe the edges to fit around obstacles such as a sink pedestal.

Put the front section of MDF in place and nail or screw it to the floor batten. Then fit the top section of MDF and nail it to the front section where the two sections join, making sure the nail heads are punched in below surface level.

It may be necessary for you to incorporate an access hatch into your boxing so you can get to your sink trap or shut off valves. To do this, when you've cut your MDF to the required size for the boxing, use a template to draw round to mark where the hatch will go (a square wall tile is ideal for this). Use a jigsaw to cut out the hole and screw two small blocks of wood on both inside vertical edges. Using a workbench clamp to hold the MDF, secure magnetic catches to the wooden blocks. Then cut out another piece of MDF, for the hatch, which will need to be the same size as the hole. Fit the corresponding pieces of the magnetic catches to the hatch and attach a small handle in the middle before putting it in place. You could use hinges instead of magnetic catches, if you prefer. Or, if there are large sections of pipework that require access, it makes sense to make an entire section of the boxing removable, holding it in place with screws rather than nails.(shower room)
